World, Meet GradeMyEssay: Dallas Students Develop Peer-Editing Website To Support Educators Amid The COVID-19 Pandemic
PLANO, TX – May 4th, 2020 – The effects of the coronavirus pandemic have been particularly devastating in the field of education, with millions of students displaced from the physical classroom, and faced with the daunting prospect of adjusting to the virtual learning experience. Acting rapidly in light of this drastic shift towards remote learning, two students from Dallas, Texas sprang into action to assist students across the US with developing their writing voice. To do so, they developed GradeMyEssay, a free online proofreading/suggestive service powered by high-school students, which connects students that need a second opinion on their writing with their peers, who can offer them feedback on their work.
“During a national crisis where everyone is affected, we felt obligated to use our skills and abilities to do our part in cushioning the adverse effects of COVID-19,” said Andrew Choi, one of the creators of GradeMyEssay. “While it’s easy to watch the headlines that tell us that our country is falling apart, it is essential to acknowledge that nearly everyone, regardless of age or occupation or income, is trying their best to help our country get past this catastrophe.”
