Alfa Chemistry Commences Supply of Clinical Standards for Chemistry Laboratory Use

New York, USA – August 3, 2022 – Following varieties of certified reference materials such as environmental standards, food & beverage standards, forensic and veterinary standards, life sciences standards, petrochemical standards, and pharmaceutical and drug standards, earlier this month, Alfa Chemistry commenced the supply of clinical standards for customers worldwide to support clinical laboratory use.

Chromatography is a laboratory technique to separate mixtures into single components. When conducting chromatography experiments, different analytical reagents are used depending on the various occasions.

“For a clinical chemistry laboratory, ultra-pure chemical standards and reagents are appropriately prepared, handled, and ultimately used in the hope of bringing the clinical research to a new level of precision and accuracy. These chemicals are referred to as clinical standards,” said one senior scientist from Alfa Chemistry. “As for now, clinical laboratories have a diversity of clinical reagents, antibodies, and molecular probes to choose from. Overall, these certified reference materials can facilitate serum analysis, histology, hematology, cytology, and a list of other sensitive and specific assays.”

The creation and subsequent production of a reagent is no easy process, which usually takes a lot of factors into consideration. At Alfa Chemistry, two clinical standards are currently provided, namely the Iopromide (CAS: 73334-07-3) and Iopanoic acid (CAS: 96-83-3).

Iopromide (CAS 73334-07-3), assay by HPLC with a purity of 98.0% and higher, is an iodinated contrast medium for intravascular administration and is commonly used in X-ray imaging studies to help in performing diagnostic tests of the brain, heart, head, blood vessels or other parts of the body.

Iopanoic acid (CAS 96-83-3), assay by HPLC with a purity of 95.0% and higher, is an iodine-containing radiocontrast medium. This research-grade reagent is a substrate of type 1 deiodinase and can also be used in cholecystography.

As always, Alfa Chemistry is at the forefront of technical innovation, strictly follows regulatory compliance, and strives to provide the best quality chromatography reagents and standards for customers worldwide. All reference standards are subjected to rigorous quality assurance checks prior to shipment. Visit https://reagents.alfa-chemistry.com/products/clinical-standards-634.html to learn more.
