ACI Espouses NRCA COVID-19 Guidance For Roofing Contractors

Affordable Contractors Insurance (ACI) is firmly throwing its support behind the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) and its COVID-19-related recommendations for roofing contractors.

In a post on its website, the NRCA states that while roofing contractors are at a lower risk of exposure to the coronavirus that causes COVID-19 compared to other occupations, they should nevertheless remain vigilant at work and at home to minimize their risk of contracting the disease.

In keeping with guidelines from the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the NRCA reiterated the importance of practicing social distancing, the wearing of masks that cover the mouth and nose, and handwashing and sanitizing.

The NRCA also reminds roofing workers to stay home if they’re feeling sick with symptoms of COVID-19. Among the symptoms that roofers should watch out for include coughing, breathing difficulties, repeated shaking with chills, sore throat, muscle pain, headache, and loss of taste or smell.

The NRCA guidance further advises roofing workers not to share tools unless absolutely necessary. If tool-sharing is unavoidable, roofers must make sure to disinfect the tools in between uses.

When at job sites, roofing contractors are reminded to keep contact with a building’s occupants to a minimum or do away with it altogether. The NRCA also recommends the same for other tradespeople working on the same site. By putting up warning lines or caution tape, roofing workers should be able to secure their work area and keep others away, according to the NRCA guidance.

With their goal to provide a roofers insurance policy that will protect clients at an affordable price, ACI’s backing of NRCA’s guidelines reflects its commitment to the roofing industry and the construction industry as a whole, which in the time of a global pandemic, have faced many operational and financial challenges

With the coronavirus continuing to take its toll on human lives and the economy more than a year after COVID-19 was declared a global pandemic, the NRCA’s recommendations should remind everyone about the need to take all necessary precautions to protect themselves, their colleagues, and their loved ones.
